Prep Time Waster

Is what I should have called this blog. Because when do I do most of my postings? Yup, you guessed it, during my prep time at school. Why work and plan for next week when you can do something fun like complain about your life on the internet? I'm feeling especially time-wasteful today being that there is no next week! Huzzah for xmas break. Although I am a bit ticked off that we only get 1 week off...this week should have been off as the kids are out of control.

On the radio this morning they were having a big debate about how schools are celebrating every holiday except Christmas in trying to be politically correct. Why do we spend an entire week talking and learning about Kwanza and then are forbidden to have a Christmas party or even call it a Christmas party? It seems that in our striving to become inclusive of all cultures we are excluding the one that 90% of Americans celebrate. It's not like I am in my classroom having a "huzzah for baby Jesus" party! All references to Christ must be elimitated from our vocabulary and I think it's silly. There was even a HUGE argument at my school this year about when to have the classroom parties. The ESL teacher wanted them all at the same time of the day so that the few students who are unable to participate due to religious restrictions could all be together in the same room at the same time and have a...um...party. Does that make sense? Of course they are going to feel excluded but that is their choice. Why can't they celebrate with their class and yet they stay in the room when learning all about Kwanza and Hannukah?

so to everyone I say Merry Christmas!! and stop complaining about your rights

Whoa...this post is way too deep. Must...find...better...waste...of...time

As a card-carrying member of the ACLU, I support your First Amendment right to express yourself freely in wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas", and therefore, you should say it loudly and proudly.

As a card-carrying member of the ACLU, I support everyone else's First Amendment right to NOT hear you say "Merry Christmas", and therefore, you should NOT say it at all.

Oh, wait...
