So I just recieved a call from the Handbell Editor of Hope Publishing in Carol Stream, IL. He and I have known each other for many years and I jokingly said one day that I wanted to take over his job when he retires. Turns out he really has been thinking about just that. He has mentioned me to the heads of the company and really wants to groom me for his job.
Anyway, he called me tonight to let me know that and opening has come around in the IT department at Hope and he wanted to know if I was interested. Hmmm. I never really fancied myself an IT person. Yes, I'm geeky with computers, but not THAT geeky. Plus, I REALLY enjoy my job teaching right now. I probably will decline the offer. But it really got me thinking. Thoughts on this anyone?

Before I answer, I want to know:
1) Is the pay better?
2) Are there more opportunities for advancement?
3) Would you have to move?
4) Is the job secure? i.e. is Hope Publishing established and not about to go bankrupt or anything?
You're not allowed to move out of the area and you're not allowed to take it if the job isn't secure.
Also, do you think you're qualified?
Paul,
can you come over and fix my mac? There seems to be something wrong. I cant find the start button.
HAHAHA -- Marie, this is exactly the response I'd look for from you. And Dean, I haven't met you yet, but you'se a funny fella.
I just don't think I could be with an IT guy. It just seems wrong.
Plus, you wouldn't have summers off anymore! How sad! And yes Marie, the job is in Chicago. While Chicago isn't bad, if we're going to relocate, its gotta be to a place out of the midwest... like Boston!
